Bring Your Own Oxygen
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
CW: Potential Child Death, Chronic Illness, and Emotional Abuse
Explore Elery as a 10 year old kid just trying to finish their town history project, and uncover the town's secrets, or don't. Bring Your Own Oxygen is a story about a chronically ill child trying to do what every other kid in Elery does, only to find some strange truths about the world around them. Whether you report it or not the consequences may be more than you think.
This game is a little thing I made for a class but I want to keep working on it to make it something better. For now I'm still learning twine so the game still has some bugs I'm ironing out. I'm hoping to do lots of rewrites and add more content once I polish the story so who knows what it'll become.
Current Content
- 10+ endings.
- Meaningful choices
- 30-60 minutes of game depending on how fast you read
- A little kid just exploring Elery and getting their project in on time
Future Content
- Current endings involving doing the town project are placeholders. They will all be expanded into much more detailed paths involving the secrets of Elery
- Congruency check ups. Some of the ways I display dialogue and the like are a bit inconsistent. I'll be going through and checking for consistency in the UI
- Rewrites. I've been writing this story as I make it in Twine. I'll soon be doing a print out where I look at all the dialogue and story beats and tie them in better so they meet a better standard. I believe what I've already crafted is somewhat enjoyable, but it could always be better.

As a born and raised lifelong illness mess, I hope this is still getting love!
Hello! It is. I'm actually putting together a new update now. This project updated rather slow since I was in college, but I'm graduating this semester so it should become a lot easier to update.
congrats on that!
Is the option to include the strange things you found being non-selectable intentional or not?
Also, if you get banned from the library, is there a way to reset your save, or are you just permanently banned in all runs going forward?
Hello! Sorry for late replies. I'm having difficulty figuring out the library reset, but the strange things should be able to be put into the report now if that's what you meant. I did some shifting around so it should all work.
Very interesting game so far! But sometimes I run into an issue when it opens up some kind of debug mode(?), which is really immersion breaking.
Hello!
Sorry for the late reply on this. I'm not sure why that's popping up yet I'm still seeing what I can find on it. But I've fixed a lot of the bugs so hopefully it shouldn't pop up nearly as much anymore.
Thank you for playing! I'm glad to hear you find it interesting.
It was really neat, but I got some errors on certain routes (like taking the Founding of Elery book to Micah, or including the strange items you found in your report if you go to the cabin in the woods).
I got similar errors. It won't let you go into the backrooms either, and I'm not sure if that's intentional or not.
Hello!
Sorry for the extremely late reply. I've fixed up the strange items bit it should work smoothly now. In terms of bringing the book to Micah I think that's fixed but it's still a bit on and off.
I'm so happy to hear you found it neat. I've added a lot more so I hope you can continue to enjoy this little game.
